Stop Giving Your Power Away for Free

Have you ever prayed for someone to be sick or absent from your place of work, classroom, or even family function?

If your prayers were answered you likely thanked God for this incredible gift, and finally felt as though you were able to truly enjoy your day.

Unfortunately, their absence will be short-lived, and in no time you will once again have to deal with them. Their very presence might even have the ability to overshadow any good throughout your day. You likely blame them for your bad day, and like a swift moving poison, your frustration and anger spills into all areas of life.

If any of this resonates with you, it is important to understand the following:

No person outside of yourself can affect you
unless you give them permission to do so.

In other words, only you can allow another person to make you feel angry, frustrated, or sad. People don’t take your power away, you give it away.

Complaining about this person will not serve you well. Rather, think about the two questions:
1. What role does this individual currently play in your life?
2. What role does this individual need to play in your life?

Perhaps it is time to set up some boundaries and create space. And for the times you feel you need to have them around you, make a conscious effort to no longer allow their words or actions to impact the way you feel.

It is time to take your power back.

It is time to return to a life that provides you with peace and happiness.
